About the Morris Group of Companies
Walt Morris, a native of Stratford, Ontario, began in humble surroundings and relied on a strong work ethic and the values that he was taught during his time as a hockey player for much of his success. Hockey was a big part of Walt’s upbringing teaching him the importance of working as a team, loyalty and above all how to be a true leader. Walt was the Captain of the Stratford Cullitons Junior Hockey team, leading the team in 1986 to the win of the All Ontario Championship for the Ontario Junior Hockey League. After this triumph, Walt hung up his skates and started his career in the auto industry selling cars at a Mazda dealership in Guelph Ontario at 22 years old. This is where the Morris Group of Companies’ story began.
In 1993, Walt moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba with the vision of creating a name for himself in the auto industry. After seven successful years as General Sales Manager at a local General Motors dealership, he was presented with the opportunity to become Vice President and General Manager of a Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealer across town. His rapid ascent continued in 2005 when he partnered with an Alberta automotive group to buy Winnipeg Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in the Pointe West Autopark. Under Walt’s leadership, it rose quickly to be number 1 on the Prairies for twelve consecutive years however this achievement was only made possible by the team of talented individuals employed within the dealership. Walt’s focus has always been to build a unified team and together exceed the expectations of customers by providing them with an exceptional and honest experience both in sales and service. Walt continues to be a leader in the automotive industry as well as following his passion for fast cars, as he brought the Red River Co-Op Speedway to Manitoba, the largest oval stock car race track in central Canada. Exclusive Bus Lines was the next welcomed addition to the growing Group which is a charter and tour bus company providing transportation from Southwestern Manitoba to points all across North America.
In 2017, Walt had an opportunity come along to branch out on his own bringing a new level of luxury to Winnipeg with the launch of Maserati and Alfa Romeo of Winnipeg. The Morris Group today consists of Maserati of Winnipeg, Alfa Romeo of Winnipeg, Kenora Chevrolet Buick GMC, Kenora Honda, Exclusive Bus Lines, Morris Pre-owned Centre, Red River Co-op Speedway, Headingley West Storage and Exclusive Car & Truck Wash which is solely owned and operated by Walt Morris alongside his devoted family.
Walt is extremely grateful and proud of his family as he has his loving spouse Cassandra at his side along with the entire Morris family. Walt’s brother, Wade is the Vice President and has brought a tremendous amount of knowledge and professionalism to the organization. Wade and his spouse Lucy moved to Winnipeg in 2016 to join the family business leaving his successful career as the President of Innpower Corporation. Walt’s two sons Brendan and Jared are a strong part of the automotive side managing Maserati and Alfa Romeo of Winnipeg. Both men come by the automotive gene honestly and Brendan recently graduated from the National Automobile Dealers Academy in Washington, D. C. Walt and Wade’s parents are also very involved offering their constant love and support to the whole family.
